In all likelihood, one of the only real highlights of our overnight trans-Ionian Sea cruise from Greece to Brindisi, Italy, a few years ago, was leaving port at sunset (the cruise itself was a bizarre mess, but certainly memorable). Hundreds of seagulls surrounded the ships, which provided no end of avian shooting practice.

Ram Island Light in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

According to our friends over at Lighthouse Friends, "The walkway connecting the light tower to the island was so badly deteriorated that it was removed in 1977. Grand Banks Schooner Museum Trust, who has a lease on the station, has restored the keeper's dwelling and rebuilt the walkway in 2002."
