As a static placeholder, I created a new section on my site just for Places I Aim to Shoot so anyone who's interested in seeing updates can track my progress!

Daily Posts on Hiatus

We had a house fire last night, so daily posts are going to be nearly impossible to do for a while. We didn't lose the house, but it did significant damage, so the next few weeks are going to keep us away from the Internet.

Shop at Amazon?

Just a quick update that I'm now an Amazon affiliate, and I've added an Amazon search box and Deals of the Day widget to

http://www.bmmimages.com/contact/

I only put it there so it wasn't always jumping out at folks like a nagging banner ad. It's right down on the lower right side of the page.

If you're headed towards Amazon to search out something and do some shopping, consider using my link. It will help me defray this site's costs, and I'd appreciate it a ton!

Thanks!

Site Update and Shifting Focus

I've been reading David duChemin's latest book, VisionMongers: Making a Life and a Living in Photography, and it's really spurred me to consider what I love most about photography and what I ultimately want to pursue within photography. The book is amazing, much like his last one, Within the Frame: The Journey of Photographic Vision, which ultimately changed my life as a photographer and a person.

For the last few years, I've worked with some fantastic clients for family photography, senior photography and even a wedding, and I enjoyed those projects, for sure. But, I found that while they were enjoyable, my heart wasn't in it as fully as it needs to be to really pursue it for the long haul. I'll certainly continue to do these sorts of projects on occasion for friends and family, but to do it as a full time business, you really have to be invested 100 percent—otherwise, you're just not serving your clients in the way they deserve.

I'm still exploring various areas of photography, but what I most love is travel photography—not just to far away places, either. As is often the case, what you can find in your own backyard can be just as fascinating as hopping on a plane for some sand dunes.

A good friend of mind and great photographer, Garth Leach, launched a site a while back called Kingdom Traveler, which highlights what makes Vermont's Northeast Kingdom such a special place. It's a great site, and I encourage you to check it out and share it with friends. I hope to work with Garth to expand the site and contribute additional content for the site in the coming months.

That doesn't mean I won't be going far afield, though! In the last two years, I've been blessed with opportunities to travel to a number of fantastic locations, including Italy, Greece and Germany. All of those trips inspired me and made me keenly aware of what I truly enjoy doing with a camera: sharing the unique and interesting bits of a place in a way that really brings you there, from a different angle. I can't wait for my next adventure abroad, wherever that might be.

The Photos of the Day and Photo Quotes of the Day will continue, because it's fun to share little things each day. I also hope to start adding photo essays to the blog whenever possible, sharing my travels.

If there's someplace here in the Northeast Kingdom or Northern New Hampshire you think is unique, let me know. Drop me a line here on the blog. I'd love to know.

Thanks for visiting and I look forward to your comments and feedback.

New Search Feature!

See that last tab up there called "Search," way up on the right? Yup, that's right, you can now do a keyword search for the entire site. Want to bring up all the Photo of the Day entries? Just type in "photo of the day" and POW! (literally, POW! ... I checked with the designers and that's apparently what happens. Sounds dangerous, but it works, so who am I to judge, right?).

I'm doing my best to keyword each entry with all the relevant terms to make it easier for you to find whatever might interest you. You can also just click on one of the tags under the blog entry (say, "Italy") and all entries with that tag will be listed for you. It's pretty click. Also, POW!

Look for more updates and changes in the coming months. Some exciting projects and news on the horizon.

Thanks for visiting!

Big Update!

A great Monday of updating and tweaking the site.

I've added loads of Portfolio shots, updated pricing for Family Portraits and Senior Portraits, and I posted some really great information, via Scott Bourne over at PhotoFocus.com, all about preparing and dressing for success on your portrait sittings.

I also updated the slideshow at the main page to be more closely tied to my current work with people, portraiture, weddings and more.

Comments or questions, requests or demands, drop me a note here!

Live From the New Squarespace App!

Apple finally approved the iPhone app, which means I can update from just about anywhere!

Also, I can post photos from here, too! Attached is a random shot from my recent trip to Germany (more on that soon).
